Outdoor Exercise During an Outbreak (Yes, It’s Still Okay!)

We’re at a unique moment in history, and we’re all feeling a little confused about what we can and can’t do. At a time when everyone is advocating isolation and staying indoors, we’re proud to say that we’ve worked hard to make our boot camp a totally safe space for our trainers and campers.

Maintaining fitness and health has never been more important, and with ABC, you definitely still can. Here’s why we’re able to keep going during the COVID-19 outbreak – and why you shouldn’t stop coming to camp.

We’re OUTDOORS. The single most important aspect that sets ABC apart is that our workouts are outside. Outdoor exercise during the outbreak isn’t just acceptable – it’s encouraged! We have all the space we need to follow strict social distancing guidelines and keep our campers safe.

We’ve introduced sanitizer. Hand sanitizer and good old-fashioned soap and water have emerged as unlikely superpowers in curbing the spread. We’re providing sanitizer to campers before and after each session, and, of course, you’re welcome to bring your own.

We’ve eliminated all touch points. No equipment will be shared, and the only things you’ll need to touch are your own exercise mat and weights. Your trainer will handle the administrative components at camp, including the sign-in sheet.

You don’t even need to use equipment! Our trainers specialize in exercises that allow you to use your own body weight as the only tool. You’ll get some of the most effective training imaginable with zero need for equipment.

Boot camp is a much-needed break from self-isolation. Staying away from other people at a time where support and camaraderie are so needed is difficult; and it’s made even tougher when isolation means being indoors. The combination of movement, sunshine and social interaction (even when it’s happening two metres apart!) will do wonders for mental health at a time when our stress levels are at an all-time high.

It’s an immune system boost. Maintaining good health and fitness is more important than it’s ever been, and it’s up to each of us to play our part in protecting our people and slowing the spread of the virus. The best way to do this is by staying healthy and keeping your immunity strong – and sticking to your workout regime is key.

You’re in control. You’re totally free to do whatever you need to feel comfortable. We aren’t restricted by walls, and we encourage you to take up the space you need to feel that you’re exercising at a safe distance from the next person. If you still feel uneasy, we’ll gladly provide you with a workout programme to use at home.

You can stay fit and healthy. With indoor gyms considered high-risk areas and several outdoor activities and sporting events being cancelled or postponed, staying fit has become a challenge. Luckily, we’re one of the few businesses in the game that can keep going strong. Even in these uncertain times, we’re in this together and we’re here for you!
