It is the last week of camp 7 and the Nutren Activ Adventure Boot Camp Challenge is coming to an end. Soon we will reveal the final results and congratulate our much deserved winner during our Wellness Seminar at the Lanzerac Hotel on September 10th. The three finalists, Belinda Weston, Lauren Scholtz and Tanya Ellis have been amazing contestants and have truly taken the bull by the horns by doing 3 camps in a row, 5 days a week. On top of blogging their entire Challenge journey and a daily dose of fun exercise, they each consulted a life coach, a beauty expert, a fashion stylist and a financial planner. Every week, the contestants visited one of these experts to gain more insight into their journey and by the sound of things, they loved every bit of it!
Join us in this time of celebration and be festive about life and new beginnings as Spring makes its entrance to 2011!

|SPOTLIGHT ON KENRIDGE|
Kenridge Primary School is ideally situated in the heart of the northern suburbs and is one of the best kept schools in the area! There are 5 beautiful sports fields to choose from as well as plenty of tennis courts, courtyards, stairs, large grandstands and many trees dotted all around the school.
The trainer, Bonnita, is a very active, lively individual and is a qualified fitness trainer and lecturer at HFPA, where she also keeps updated with the latest trends and improvements in the fitness industry. She is a motivator and encourager as well as a great believer in team work!
Join her for an hour a day at 18:00, Monday to Friday!

|IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN - JUST 1 WEEK TO GO!|
Can you believe it? There is just 1 week left of the Nutren Activ ABC Challenge! It’s been a real privilege to write these summaries every week and share them with all of you. By following the finalists’ journeys, you and I have only partly been able to understand the challenges they have faced and the obstacles they have overcome. It’s not easy.
Lauren, Tanya and Belinda are three very brave women who have taken a step in the right direction and made an active decision to change their lives. ABC and all the fabulous sponsors have been there to guide them along their way, but after the end of this week they’re on their own to face their new life with confidence, commitment, poise and balance! We wish them all the best during this last week and know they’ll give it all they’ve got!
Last week saw all finalists visiting The Little Black Dress Company, to pick out their special dress for the Wellness Day, where the winner will be announced. This was an exciting moment for all of them because they could see just how far they had come in terms of their physical improvements as well as their emotional confidence! We asked them to sum up their feelings in one sentence, here’s what they had to say:
• Belinda: fun, busy and energizing
• Tanya: found inner strength, feeling proud and beautiful
• Lauren: fun and awesome

|FACEBOOK Q & A - WHAT DID WE TALK ABOUT?|
Our first live Q & A Facebook session with Irini was a huge success! Thank you to all who participated. Remember to mark September 21st from 13:00 – 14:00 in your calendar and start thinking about what you would like to know!
Here are a few of the questions that were asked:
Taryn G: On my 10th camp and a few camps ago, I hit a plateau with my running time in the assessments - it seems to be more a mental block than a block of ability. Any tips for improving my running? Generally will run a bit (200 / 300m) and then walk 20/30 steps and run again. But need to start eliminating those walking sections!
Irini: Many campers find the assessment stressful. Please remember the results are for you and you only! We need to do the best we can on that particular day. Some days we are 110% and others maybe 50% for a multitude of reasons and we need to "run" with this :) I would suggest slowing down a bit rather than stopping, so your aim would be to keep going - no walking if possible. When you slow down to a walk, it takes twice the willpower to get going again. Make your next assessment goal to not walk at all- you will be surprised as to how much time you save!
Veronika K: If we exercise at 18:00, what is the latest you would recommend eating prior to that and how large a meal would you recommend? I'm not really hungry after camp in the evenings so have very little to eat afterwards.
Irini: I would suggest at least a snack 1 hour before class, like a good combo of carbs and protein such as fruit and nuts. Some people can tolerate an entire cooked meal 30 minutes before training. Most people not! But it is not ideal to eat lunch at 1pm and nothing until camp. It is also important to eat after class. At least a snack again within 20 - 30 minutes and a meal within 2 hours.
