Being the first ever Adventure Boot Camp franchisee, I have something to shout about when it comes to this fantastic, ever expanding, all exciting business which just works!  ABC has been such an adventure for me and hundreds of women in Stellenbosch!  I always wanted to train, encourage and motivate ladies in the great outdoors and this is the perfect company to fulfil all my ambitions.

ABC changed my life because I can squeeze the maximum time out of every day, doing the things that I’m really passionate about!  I love my job because it's not only incredibly rewarding to watch my ladies get the desired results but it also allows me to lead a beautiful quality of life. I work on average 3 - 5 hours a day, running three busy classes and doing a small amount of admin on most days.

The income is really great but this obviously depends on how committed you are to making your franchise grow, your location and the amount of campers that you attract.  If you are a great group trainer, have a sense of adventure and good business savvy - what are you waiting for? There are already women in your area who are waiting for ABC to open!

The office staff are super efficient and in all my years of working with their ever-growing team, I have never heard one complaint about them from my campers!  They fulfil a huge part of making my business the success it is today.  They are completely committed to making every franchise fly!

I owned one of the “Women Only Gyms” for almost two years and I was in the process of closing it as it was not financially rewarding. It was then that I saw an ad for ABC. I was interested in attending, not realising that it was only being offered in Cape Town at the time.

When I went onto the website, I saw that franchise opportunities were being offered. I immediately made an enquiry and a day later the director, Huenu, called me. Not only was the franchise fee minimal, there were no other major costs involved. I was really excited about purchasing an ABC franchise because I knew there was a need for such an exciting exercise alternative in my area.

As the first ABC franchise in Gauteng, I was very proud to be the pioneer! The number of campers attending was phenomenal - I didn’t expect it to be so successful. Running an ABC franchise is motivating as well as less stressful and more financially rewarding. I now have numerous time slots and I love what I do because the time spent conducting my camps is minimal and it is great to see the physical changes in my campers. The campers love it as it is fun and exciting - it's amazing to see how friendships develop amongst campers.

The support from Head Office is great and very beneficial. All administration is done by Head Office which really helps us as Trainers and Franchisees.

Since owning ABC, I have grown from a being a soft spoken and shy person to a very dynamic, “loud” person. I don’t have any regrets and I would definitely recommend buying into the ABC brand. It has been GREAT all the way!

I started my Adventure Boot Camp Franchise as a new mom. I needed a job that enabled me to earn an income without sacrificing precious time with my son. Being an Adventure Boot Camp Franchise Owner and Trainer has been incredibly rewarding for me in many ways. I am challenged, motivated and encouraged by working with other women from many different walks of life and by helping them to reach their goals through exercise - whether it is weight loss, improved fitness, improved overall health and wellbeing and/or having fun and socialising while working out.

It has been an amazing experience for me. I have met so many wonderful people and developed many friendships, while at the same time, having the privilege to be able to fulfil my role as a wife and as a mother to both my children.

Adventure Boot Camp is an exciting venture to be part of and I am looking forward to what the future holds for campers and franchisees alike.

I had been in the health and fitness industry on a very part time basis for the past 10 years, always very wary of leaving the corporate world to take on personal training as a full time career. After being diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome in my wrist in 2009, followed by a nerve block to my cervicular spine April 2010 and months of taking toxic medication to treat neuropathic pain, the pain specialist advised that if I had any hope of overcoming my condition and leading a quality life, I needed to leave the stressful job that I was in and embark on something else that I was passionate about. This was the push that I needed. I resigned from my job in August 2010 and I have never looked back.

ABC gives me the flexibility and independence that I need – it’s my own little business yet at the same time I have the phenomenal support and guidance of a truly wonderful team at head office as well as the support of fellow franchisees.  Huenu, the director of ABC, has created something magical, a concept that really works due to an incredibly strong and well-established brand, inspirational leadership and a dynamic and well organized marketing and admin team. As a franchisee, this means you are already half way there and so if you are prepared to work hard and put in the time and effort into making your classes fun and creative and focus on local marketing, you are guaranteed to make a success of your business.

I have met the most amazing people along the way. It is so rewarding to see positive changes in people both physically and emotionally. For me, ABC is not just a job, it is about building relationships and friendships and what better way to do this in an outdoor environment, catching sunshine and getting to have a laugh with such a special bunch of women every day?

My journey with Adventure Boot Camp started in 2008 with an ad in Shape magazine. I’d always been a fan of the boot camp concept and was feeling very stifled in the environment I was in at the time. I was also working very long hours and not seeing the financial or emotional rewards for my commitment. The ad immediately caught my eye and I can even remember how my heart pitter-pattered as I worked my way through the website. The ABC ethic was emblazoned all over those web pages and it clearly resonated with me. I am passionate about fitness, particularly group fitness – I really wanted to make a difference – and I could see how ABC was making a huge impact on people’s lives.

I was very excited but also very nervous about taking the leap into business ownership. They say that first step into action is 90% there, so I went with an old saying and kept repeating it to myself: Just do it!  I emailed my enquiry and quickly received a positive response with lots more ABC material and the franchisee kit to read through. The more I read, the more I wanted it and the more I believed I had the right attitude for the job. I started mentioning it to friends and family members – some were incredibly supportive, others a little nervous of the risk I would be taking. I felt it was a calculated risk so I went ahead and applied, despite not being the most ideal candidate and I was able to get an interview with Huenu, Owner of Adventure Boot Camp. Her own enthusiasm and passion for her business was immediately evident and just convinced me more that it was a team I wanted to be a part of. And so, somehow, here I am today, the franchise owner of the successful Sandton branch!

The franchisee training was brutal (but in a good way!) and very thorough – we each got a lot of personal attention and encouragement from Huenu and her team.  You are so grateful for it because that first day at camp is terrifying, you don’t sleep a wink the night before…and then, within 5 minutes of getting going, your training and natural enthusiasm kicks in and before you know it, you are having so much fun that you can’t even remember what you were so worried about.

“Every day is different” - we often tell that to our campers, but for you as a trainer it is also true. It’s impossible to get bored and as you develop a core of wonderful repeat campers, you develop friendships too. For me it sometimes feels like I get to hang out with my friends all day, albeit giving them a bit of a hard time in the process! The rewards are really amazing and the potential to do well is almost limitless. It’s a good concept that works. This is where the head office team comes in – the support we get from the ladies in Cape Town is just amazing. I’ve never met a nicer bunch of women working together. While ensuring that a high standard is kept throughout all the franchises, they make such an effort to always be in touch and assist you with anything you can ask of them. Not to say that there haven’t been challenges! Of course I’ve had my ups and downs but fortunately the issues have always been fairly easily resolved. I’ve also enjoyed getting to know and working with the other franchisees. We have developed a tight support network - everything from juggling Assistant Trainers in times of trouble, sharing shifts at expos, teaming up to do drop-in camps, or even just meeting up for coffee and chit-chat.

Anything worth having is worth working at. The lessons I’ve learnt have included learning to keep an open mind, seeing things from the perspective of others and not sweating the small stuff. I’m also becoming a master at the creative - thinking up new workouts is a constant but fulfilling challenge for me. Nothing quite tickles me as when a camper tells me they’ve really enjoyed the workout that day. Unless it’s when a camper shares her progress - it is so rewarding to see ladies not only losing weight, but coming out of their shells and having fun. Adventure Boot Camp is about so much more than just fitness and weight loss and I encourage you to see the life-changing impact for yourself!

Paging through a fitness magazine, I stumbled across an ad for franchise opportunities with Adventure Boot Camp. At the time I was stuck in the corporate world for more than 12 years and a mother of two very demanding daughters. The freedom to work for myself doing something in the fresh air sounded very appealing! As my time in the corporate world became longer and longer, I started looking at alternative careers and found my perfect match within the fitness industry. My lifetime goal is to motivate ladies to look and feel beautiful - building strong bodies that can withstand the onslaught of marriage, kids, work, and all the unexpected turns we face in our daily lives.

Adventure Boot Camp gave me the opportunity to resign from my corporate position, work only 2 - 3 hours a day and still be able to contribute to the household expenses, while having the time to enjoy my two little ones and dedicate the better part of my day to being a wife and mother.

Having the job satisfaction that everyone deserves, seeing ladies transformed in front of your eyes and experiencing their positive energy has made owning an Adventure Boot Camp Franchise the best decision I have ever made.

Adventure Boot Camp has given me the opportunity to create a special place where women with varying circumstances and needs can come together and realise their own potential.

I really enjoy working solely with women. The atmosphere and the environment it creates for them to exercise, socialise and grow within, is amazing. We put a lot of stress on ourselves to be a certain something and to perform at a certain level - to be a 'super woman'.

This business opportunity allows healing to take place in women's lives and gives them access to a support structure. It creates a platform for ladies' caring and womanly instincts to come out, like cheering each other on or helping a friend over a finish line, while at the same time allowing their toughness and determination to push through boundaries in their own lives and realise anything is possible.

ABC has changed my life in all these areas. This opportunity allows us to unite as women within our differences and within the pressures of life and society. I think the fact that my venue is quiet and serene helps give us a 'break' from the real world as often the only people in sight are the other ladies in the class.

Adventure Boot Camp has had a positive impact on my life and heath! Being a trainer has inspired me to get fit and stay fit! Watching clients progress and blossom is the most rewarding experience.

Being outdoors and challenging my clients to go further every day is probably the highlight of my day.

I love the combination of structure and games that make up the Adventure Boot Camp method. Since I joined ABC my client-base has grown because it is a brand that is nationally recognised. I love teaching a big group of ladies as this keeps up the camaraderie and they are constantly challenging each other - none of my sessions are boring!

If you are a personal trainer and love people and the outdoors, this is DEFINITELY for you!

Being in the corporate industry for so long, working for several different companies over a number of years, I was asking myself the question of what meaning and purpose was in my life. Every time the answer was the same.  Does working for a big company, earning a salary, doing the same thing over and over everyday really make me happy and fulfilled as a person? No, it never did.

I made a decision to change this around and I started my journey of changing my life by learning new skills. It was a long process with lots of sacrifices and commitments but nevertheless I pushed through and qualified myself as a Therapeutic Reflexologist as well as a fitness trainer.  It was when I started my training as a Preggi Bellies instructor that I first heard about Adventure Boot Camp for Women.  I decided to attend a camp to see what it was like and I loved it!

I decided to take a chance and applied for a franchise despite being very nervous of the idea of being a business owner. I kept on telling myself that I was mad to do this but I sent the application and was surprised by the enthusiastic response I received back. Soon after, I had an interview with Huenu in Johannesburg where I was working at the time and I was so excited afterwards as it all sounded like just the thing I was looking for. Huenu's whole approach to the business also made me want to be part of this wonderful concept.  I am passionate about health and fitness and especially with regards to women so I was really happy that I took the first step.  I set my fears aside, took the chance and I am so proud to be part of this wonderful business. It helped me to grow as a person so I got as much out of being a franchisee and trainer as my wonderful ladies do attending camp.

Looking back, it was definitely not without challenges but we need those to pull us out of our comfort zones in order to grow. I definitely do not look back and do not regret my complete change in career, even though I had a lot of negative talk from people.  I love what I do and I now have the time to do what I enjoy doing. I have the flexibility to do many different things during the day between classes. My life is much more meaningful and I am happy and proud to be part of a group of people that are truly devoted to make a difference in thousands of women's lives. ABC is like an exercise support group for women with fun activities as a bonus! It is wonderful to see friendships grow and women supporting and encouraging each other.

For me, this is the best business to be in and I would do it all over again! It is financially and emotionally rewarding and so worth the effort!
